The TAWCS Advantage

A Day in the Life: Our students don't sit behind screens for 8 hours. They spend their days in daily park outings, hands-on art integration, and deep-dive literacy blocks.

Now Enrolling: Grades K-8

Our Process

Group of children sitting and playing on a large statue of a hippopotamus outdoors surrounded by green foliage.

6:1 Ratio

Every child is seen, heard, and supported in our intimate learning environment.

Children participating in a CPR training class, practicing on mannequins on a wooden floor, with a trainer giving instructions.

Community Focused

Our CLAP methodology connects students to social justice and the world around them.

We use the 'Art of Words' to teach math, science, and history through creative expression.

Arts-Integrated

Our CLAP Methodology: A New Blueprint for Learning

At TAWCS, we don’t just teach subjects; we cultivate thinkers.

Our proprietary CLAP system ensures every lesson is rooted in four essential pillars.

A group of children sitting in a classroom, observing CPR mannequins on the floor for a first aid training session, with a woman standing nearby.
Two children are standing at a keyboard, practicing music from sheet music on the stand.

C — Community:

Education must connect to the issues that affect us. Our students learn to be global citizens by engaging with the folks in our local DUMBO and Downtown Brooklyn environment and by studying social justice issues.

Children working on educational posters about the human skeleton, coloring and learning anatomy at school.

L — Literacy:

We believe in the "Art of Words." Literacy is the foundation of all subjects, from analyzing historical texts to writing original poetry and scientific journals.

A — Art:

Art is our primary teaching tool. We integrate visual arts, music, and movement into Math, Science, and History to make abstract concepts tangible.

  • Waldorf-Inspired: We follow the developmental stages of childhood, emphasizing imagination in early years and critical, independent thinking in middle school.

  • Social Justice Lens: Our Social Studies curriculum explores equity, identity, and the environment, preparing students to lead in a diverse world.

  • Mixed-Age Groupings: We leverage a 6:1 ratio in mixed-age settings, allowing students to learn from their peers and develop leadership skills early.

  • STEM + Art: We combine high-tech tools (LEGO® kits, coding, and iPads) with the low-tech beauty of hand-drawn "Main Lesson Books."
